Democratic National Convention Recruits Volunteers with “Convention Coffee” and Celebrates Presumptive Nominee President Joe Biden

Prospective Biden delegates from Illinois joined convention officials at Manny’s Deli in an enthusiastic celebration of this summer’s Democratic National Convention

CHICAGO – Today, Democratic National Convention officials joined prospective Illinois delegates and Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez for “Convention Coffee” at Manny’s Deli. Officials gathered to celebrate President Biden becoming the presumptive nominee, recruit convention volunteers, and showcase the Democratic National Convention as a next crucial step in the democratic process. The delegates on the ballot have pledged to represent Illinois at the convention and formally nominate President Joe Biden alongside their peers from all 57 U.S. states and territories.

“Across the country, Democrats are turning out in primaries to enthusiastically support President Biden and Vice President Harris, including in Illinois today. As our planning for this summer’s convention in Chicago kicks into high gear, it was an honor to be joined by some of the pledged delegates from our host state who will join us to make history and formally renominate the Biden-Harris ticket,” said Democratic National Convention Committee Executive Director Alex Hornbrook.

“I was thrilled to join some of the Democrats who will represent our state and our President in August as we look forward to the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Here in Illinois, the Biden-Harris administration’s strong record is on full display, from investments in infrastructure to new jobs and lowered health care costs. Illinois Democrats are excited to be a part of sharing that story of accomplishment with the rest of the nation this summer,” said Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez.

“I look forward to being a part of history in the making when Democrats from around the country convene in the Windy City this August to officially nominate President Biden and Vice President Harris as our party’s nominees. The stakes of this election are clear, and I’m proud to be a part of the team that will send President Biden and Vice President Harris back to the White House so they can continue to build on their historic accomplishments and defend our democracy,” said prospective Biden delegate Chris Dunn.

“Democrats in Illinois and across the nation are united behind the Biden-Harris ticket, and I’m excited to support them from the convention floor. The convention presents an unparalleled opportunity to show the world how President Biden’s Investing in America agenda is creating progress in Chicago and throughout the Midwest, and I can’t wait to showcase our city come August,” said 27th Ward Alderman and prospective Biden delegate Walter Burnett Jr.
