Construction Begins: "The transformation will be enormous."
As the Denver Post reports this morning, “The Pepsi Center hands over the keys to construction teams for the Democratic National Convention Committee at 8 a.m. Monday, and the on-the-ground, multimillion-dollar race to transform the arena into a convention hall by Aug. 25 begins.” Click here for the full story.

The world will be watching and cheering for Obama and the cost of broadcasting this historical event will cost parties. Deal with it. Technology is not cheap and until Obama nobody has has had a chance to push and implement new and alternate forms of energy. Get ready we'll all be greener after Jan 2009.

In regards to the comment from Maggie....why is it such a big deal that the dems are spending millions on the convention???? Do you think that the Republicans aren't also spending millions on their convention???? of course they are. DUH. What rock have you been living under. The conventions are all paid for with private money raised specifically for that purpose - both parties do it. it is no big new thing.

It's outrageous that they're spending this kind of money on the convention. Where's all the "green" that these dem leaders talk about? Completely overhauling a facility that houses professional sporting teams as well as entertainers because it's not good enough for the leaders of the party? Then Obama needs to hold his acceptance speach at a completely different facility than the one that all the construction is being done at. Very green indeed.
Yeah, shoving your green notions about lightbulbs and greenhouse effects down the public's throats is what you do but not what you preach. Spend millions on a brief period of time instead of giving it back to the public and doing something for those of us who support you. You can bet my vote WON'T be for Obama.Posted by maggie, 09/07/2008 10:11am (2 months ago)
